  • ENT...again....

So Nick has yet another ear infection.  This makes two in the last month, plus sinusitis and tonsilitis within the last two months.  So we went to the pediatrician this morning (even though we had an appointment already with the ENT for this afternoon....wanted to make sure it wasn’t something else while we were still able to see the pediatrician today).  It is indeed an ear infection, plus yucky throat and enlarged tonsils.  The tube is not draining this time....he’s got that really thick fluid that won’t drain.  So she put him on the Ciprodex drops for a week, and Omnicef for 10 days.  Well then we go to the ENT, who obviously is not happy that Nick’s still getting sick.  He thinks it goes all the way back to when we tried to wean Nick off the Prevacid back in December, which resulted in Nick getting a sinus infection shortly thereafter.  He thinks we never really got rid of the sinus infection.  So he extended the Omnicef for a full month (30 days total), increased the dosage of Prevacid (doubled his night dosage, left morning dosage the same), and added Singulair.  Ugh.  I have enough problems getting Nick to take the dissolvable Prevacid, and I find out the Singulair is a CHEWABLE!  Argh.  I hope he’ll take it....the pharmacist said it doesn’t taste bad, so we’ll see....  I just wish the little guy would just get better!  :(

  • Car Accident

John and I were in a car accident today....the kids too.  This guy was getting off of I-26 at Harbison Blvd, coming around the corner.  There are these little plastic posts to remind you to stay in your lane.... We were in the left hand lane, he was supposed to be coming into the right lane.  Well, he didn't stay in the right hand lane.... He T-boned the minivan.    Right into my door.  Thank God John was driving, or we might've been pushed into the oncoming traffic lane, and/or flipped the vehicle.  No one was injured, seriously.  John and I both have some muscle pain.  We'll be going to the doctor in the morning.  There's significant damage to the vehicle; we'll be taking it into the shop tomorrow, and having the claims adjuster come look at it.  Obviously, the other guy was at fault.  Turns out, he's a diabetic, and his blood sugar had dropped incredibly low, so he wasn't able to control his car.  We'll be driving a rental until we know what's going on with ours.  I'm kinda hoping they total it (we have GAP insurance).  I'm not sure how comfortable I'll feel driving it after this.... The damage looks pretty bad in spots.  I'll try to attach some pictures.  We'll be buying new car seats tomorrow (babies r us was closed by the time we would've been able to get there and I'm not buying the cheapo ones they have at Wal-Mart).  I guess the other guys car insurance will pay for the car seats... We'll see what happens there.  I feel like I need a good massage.  I saw the car coming, and knew there was no way he was going to make the turn.  I thought he was going to hit us with the side of his car...but no, he hit us pretty much dead-on.  The exhaust system is leaking fluid, and there's a definite possibility of frame damage.  Go to my MySpace to see pictures.... myspace.com/teresawethington  You'll have to ask to be my friend, if you're not already....
